Hey guys, I have recently jotted down some personal notes for creating an Uncrossing Oil; however, I require some Copal Oil, but my supplier doesn't have any. In fact, she says she's never even seen any, before. But, I'm sure I've seen it, so I know is must be extent.
So...I was wondering if anyone, here, might know of a supplier that's sells Copal Oil (if not some sort of liquid copal-based botanical!). I really don't want to use Frankincense as a substitute, because the energies would be entirely different for these purposes, given that copal is employed in Mexico as an apotropaic substance, particularly when fighting Witchcraft.
Take Care,
Wade MacMorrighan

Re: ISO a Copal Oil Supplier...
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 11:43 PMdo you think that gently heating some of the resin in a small amount of oil would suffice? You could do this over a candle flame to control the heat and be able to jostle it around to dissolve it. -

Re: ISO a Copal Oil Supplier...
Thu, January 10, 2008 - 5:38 PMAn oil infusion is probably the way to go. Though it might be safer to try and put it in a hot water bath since the flame idea sounds... well pretty flammable. Keep in mind that I have set tons of oils on fire and exploded them in the microwave so maybe I am just prone to it.
As far as I know I have never ever seen a commercially available essential oil of copal (though it is rumored to be used in certain perfumes... there are times when certain things are specially distilled for French perfume houses, ... not to get your hopes up though).
Good Luck.
Of course, we wonder why you would want an ANTI-witchcraft oil when you seem so very PRO craft. -

Re: ISO a Copal Oil Supplier...
Fri, January 11, 2008 - 11:58 AMI was recently told that copal resin is soluble in oil; well, that is to say (according to my informant) that it can be either melted down and fully incorporated into the base-oil, or that it can be melted into the oil by simply heating them together. Do you know if this is viable advise?
Also, because I have not attempted to employ resins in oils through such a method, about how much resin might one need for an ultimate oil with the potency of scent of any EO?
Oh, and it's not simple anti-craft v. pro-craft that is of essential concern in this regard, but it's purificatory properties (as well as scent) that I am after roght *now*. Though, I would like to ultimately employ it as an ingredient for a future Protection Potion I'd like to eventually formulate. ;o) Besides, I thought my mom could use it, 'cause she's working in a dreadfully negative working environment at the moment.
Apparently her bosses are behaving rather tyranically to the staff (what can be expected when they hire spoiled rotten Barbie-clones that have never REALLY had to work a REAL job for a living, and have lost touch with reality because they are literally unab;e to comprehend--if you can imagine it--how *anyone* is unable to travel out of the state or country when they have vacation-time, despite being told that they can't afford to!): Now, because the Board for the co. my mom works for was burned by an earlier Administration that abused the system, one Board Member had the good sense to ask mom--the receptionist who was essentially asked by the Board to take the position, as she has been a grunt with the co. for more than 20 years!--to keep tabs on how many hous the Administration is there each week, so that there's a paper-train to ensure that they are working their 40 hours/week!
Now, mom told them more than once that they were supposed to fill out a VERY simple form letting the Board know at the end of the year when they need time off, as wella s for what reason, but they haven't been doing so. Now, mom explicitely told them this more than once, but they completely denied it!!! Now, mom would have let this slide, but one of the Administrators deliberally told her a hurtful lie, which mom found out was incorrect (that the Board was contacting the Admins complaining about her) 'cause *she( called the Board to rat 'em out! So, now, the Admins. are treating mom aweful for what amounts to their own damned fault!
Ugh...if anyone else working there had pulled HALF the crap that THEY get away with, they'd be fired on the spot! (Actually, when they know they're gonna' fire someone, rather than firing them on the spot, they wait until they get ALL the work out of them that they can, and fire them at the end of their shift, which seems so unethical IMO.) They somehow think they are "special" and are able to lay down rules, but don't have to follow them themselves, because they're "privelaged"! One of the Admins. recently bitched that she needed some minor surgery, and that she was going to have to use some of her vacation and personal days to recover from, as if she should have to, when anyone else would!
Ugh...and people wonder why I'm a Socialist! I keep saying that the girls working on the floor need to invest in a guillotine--it worked for the French!
So, anyway, I was thinking of carving a seal onto a black candle, and then anointing as a Magickal gift for mom. She's really unhappy, and has almost cried a couple of times as a result of their treatment of her, now; and, it's prolonging an aweful col mom's had for more than the past two weeks!
But, mom also fears that all of the "sallary" people are conspiring against her, and gathering as much evidence as they can so that they can dismiss her, when mom's a model employee (the Admins. have previously told her on numerous times they'd be beside themselves if she ever left!).

Never heard of the oil extraction for copal - either essential oil or absolute.
But I have had success with making a tincture from white copal. -

Re: ISO a Copal Oil Supplier...
Sun, June 1, 2008 - 9:12 PMHi Wade,
I have too searched for a copal oil. I have never found one online. As Copal and Frankincense are related, you'd think someone would try to produce a copal distillation too, but alas no. However, virtually all resins are soluble in oil. If you want to put copal into it, it doesn't need to be in oil form. Just add a tear or two and voila. If you want it to full integrate into the liquid, just heat it up. Where I live (in SoCAL) I can just put it on the black dashboard of my car on a sunny day, and it gets hot enough to really melt anything in. It should also integrate itself over time. If you want to speed that process, grind the copal into a powder and add it that way. You could also dissolve it in alcohol and use the tincture.
I have done this with other resins as well, including mastic.
Regarding this old situation, this doesn't sound like an uncrossing thing. Either Hot Foot these people away, or make up some boss fix so they will stop being quite such a nuisance. -

Re: ISO a Copal Oil Supplier...
Sat, December 13, 2008 - 3:54 PMActualy there is a essential oil from Copal, I was thinking for some time but actualy I found my Copal Negro absol. 1ml ampulle.
I got it some years ago as a present by a woman who was treated by me in a trauma case, she told me that she had it from a Perfumebazar in grasse, (she claimed to have worked there)
I never opend it because I thought it would be a fake.
This stuff is quiet rare and you only get it fi you have contacts.
I think you can disolve it in 96% Alc. and slowly filter it to get rid of the nondisolvble parts, then just pour it in a bowl and let it slowly dry out....this gives you a resin that can be solved in f.ex. Sesame oil.
this should do it....
if you need strong protection, the use Perubalm! -
