I am particularly happy with my Temple Blend

Re: Current Incense Blends
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 8:57 AMI had an unsuccessful experiment with some resins - copal, dragons blood and a myrrh blend.
But I guess if one learns something (even if NOT to do it) then it can't really be called a complete failure.
I am now trying out some oils and 'crystalized oil' blends that I got from Eden Botanicals. Both on my altar, and annointed on my skin as a scent. I'm having better results on the altar with those. They are too dark and musky for my taste as personal perfume, but very warm and sultry during meditation and ritual use.

Re: Current Incense Blends
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 9:35 AMI recently created a whole bunch of hoodoo formula stuff, for a friend in need, one of which was an incense blend. I haven't burned any, but in the jar, it smelled WONDERFUL!!!
I need to make more incense. -

Re: Current Incense Blends
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 8:02 PMI'm making Magical Mystery Tour (from Wylundt's Book of Incense)
Bay (3/4)
Frankincense (1/4)
Sandalwood (1 1/4)
Cinnamon (1/2)
Dragon's Blood (1/4)
Lilac Oil
(when you are measuring ingredients, always use level teaspoons, tablespoons, etc; ingredients should be ground as finely as possible)
When i make this i always add saltpeter (potassium nitrate) to help it burn and it adds this really cool "sparkle" quality to it. But only a LITTLE bit is necessary!
Put in a nice glass jar/bottle and add a pack of charcoal rounds. -

Re: Current Incense Blends
Tue, November 25, 2008 - 6:34 PMLilac oil sounds intriguing
prolly more divinely olfactory
I haven't seen it available anywhere tho
unless you are making a hoodoo version with the fresh flowers and a base oil
I used to make my own perfume this was with lemon flowers ^^ -

Re: Current Incense Blends
Wed, November 26, 2008 - 6:33 AMA long time ago I used "lilac" oil from a pagan shop I worked at. When I went to go look for it and reading about it, supposedly there isn't a true lilac oil out there or its very rare for it to be pure (something like that) If I can't find the oil or I don't have it, I just add the dried flower/herb. Making incense is one of my Favorite things to do! ") -

Re: Current Incense Blends
Fri, February 20, 2009 - 5:06 AMEveryone seems to be working on such magnificent feats of olfactory pleasures
Only if we could all trade our incenses so we could sample each others
we would find such delight in each person's unique style
currently I've found a particcular fondness for the incense ingredient Pine Needles
the ones I've been sampling the smells are Pinon Pine Needles
they have a fir smell of that green foresty smell
that campfirey smell
and then a spicy smell I didn't notice until recently
it is a base note i believe as the scent doesn't begin with the spice but ends with the lingering scent
very different
it goes to show that my olfactory senses are being tuned -

Re: Trees of Eternity incense
Tue, March 3, 2009 - 9:49 PMI've seen coconut husk recently as an incense ingredient but I have no idea what it does
nor have i seen it sold anywhere
I'd assume it is very very smokey
the acacia paste sounds interesting
would it be similar to a doop -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Trees of Eternity incense
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 2:42 AMcoconut husk has to be de-fibered, but it burns scentless and hot
acacia could be used to make a dhoop as well
