Ive recently happened upon labdanum rock rose cistus
which is a really amazing resinoid.
So far Ive blended it with aloeswood and sandalwood
with some fabulous results.
Does anyone know of any other combinations
or magikal properties that I might find helpful?

Pretty good info on the plant itself. Makes me wonder if I can pick some up. How do you describe its scent?
The more I read on it the more I would love to add it to my resin collection which is slowly growing again. -

Re: Labdanum
Mon, December 8, 2008 - 10:11 AMLabdanum is a fixative, that means it fixes the other used scents together....you can combine it pretty good with santalum album, frnakinsence and Psalosant, oakmoss and Lilly or violetroot!
the most ncient greek recipies combine it with masix and honey soaked raisins or apricots....this has to rest for some weeks!
Labdanum covers the soul from harm and may be used for summoning of ancient goods and godesses! -

Re: Labdanum
Mon, December 8, 2008 - 8:18 PMthe thing is called in medicine: Radix Iridis florentinae its used in the perfume industry since hundred of years
the oil is very expensive but it is worth it!
belive me exactly is it the root of an iris, which is stored for about 5 to 10 jears in a room before use!
I use it as a top note in blendings, singel use is goof for emotional healing of traumata!

Re: Labdanum
Wed, December 10, 2008 - 6:02 PMpeople seldom talk about the other labdanum- the black.
black labdanum is one of the key ingredients in manufacturing modern 'amber'.
the green cistus is so resinous, that a home hobbyist is able to produce a prodigious amount of product. love it with jasmine -

Re: Labdanum
Thu, December 11, 2008 - 11:11 AMYou can use the leaves for a nice experiment, if you plant a rose witha stron scent next to a cystus plant, the leaves of the cystus will have the scent of roses.....this is a nice kind of magic....made by mother nature -
